Judith Aberg, MD

Judith A. Aberg, M.D., is the dean of System Operations for Clinical Sciences, the chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and the Dr. George Baehr Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She founded the Mount Sinai Clinical and Translational Research Center, which has five sites in Manhattan offering participation in HIV behavioral and treatment interventional trials. Dr. Aberg was an integral part of Mount Sinai’s COVID-19 response, from introducing antiviral drugs to opening vaccine studies. She has been involved in more than 150 clinical trials, writes and lectures frequently on her work and currently serves as a member of the U.S. National Institutes of Health COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines panel. She has conducted numerous trials focusing on the complications of HIV disease, specifically the pathogenesis of inflammation contributing to the co-morbidities in the aging HIV population. Her current work has been focused on exploring the role of platelets in immune activation, inflammation and thrombogenicity. Her work has contributed to national guidelines in primary care, cardio-metabolic complications and on prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections for persons with HIV.
